Progressive Web App Retail Kiosk — No App Store Required

HTML/CSS/JS · PWA manifest · Service Worker · GitHub Pages

The Problem

A retail chain wanted something running on a large portable screen in their stores while customers waited — but they didn't want customers accidentally hitting browser buttons, navigating away, or staring at a blank default browser page. They needed something that felt intentional and on-brand.

The Build

We designed a Progressive Web App that installs directly from the browser onto the device's home screen — no app store, no download, no browser chrome once installed. The kiosk experience runs fullscreen and presents appointment booking links, brand reading material, and embedded video content in a clean tile layout using the brand's color palette. The whole thing is a single deployable HTML file with no server, no backend, no maintenance.

The Outcomes
Installable directly on any Android screen without an app store
Fullscreen experience with no browser UI visible once installed
Placeholder content structured for fast real-content swap
Zero ongoing maintenance or hosting cost
Deployable in minutes from a single file
